What the veterinarian does

You enter your cat’s diagnosis, current diet, fluids and medications, and upload recent bloodwork if you have it. The veterinarian reviews the case, asks any questions by secure messaging, and, when it is appropriate, renews the items your cat needs.

This consultation is for pets that a veterinarian has already diagnosed and started on treatment. If your pet has never been treated for this, the veterinarian will tell you whether an online assessment is enough or whether an in-person examination is needed first. If it cannot be handled online, the fee is refunded.

Yes. Prescription diets need a veterinarian’s authorization, and the veterinarian can provide it when it is appropriate for your cat.

$49 per consultation plus tax. Medication, dispensing fees and any shipping are paid to the pharmacy you choose, at that pharmacy’s price. Telepets adds no markup.

Intakes submitted during business hours (9 AM to 7 PM ET) are reviewed the same day, most within 90 minutes. After-hours submissions are reviewed the next business day.

No. You answer the intake on your own schedule, then a veterinarian messages you. The veterinarian may ask for photos or a short video clip of your pet, so it helps to have your pet nearby.

You choose. Pick up at a nearby pharmacy that carries the medication, or use a partner online pharmacy that delivers to your door. You pay the pharmacy directly.

If we cannot treat your pet online, the consultation fee is refunded. The veterinarian will tell you when your pet needs to be seen in person. Telepets is for non-urgent care; an emergency needs an emergency veterinary hospital.
