What the veterinarian does

You tell the veterinarian about the event, when it is, your pet’s health and current medications, and what has been tried before. The veterinarian reviews the intake the same day during business hours and, when appropriate, sends the prescription to your pharmacy in time for the event.

What can be prescribed

  • Calming medication given 1.5 to 2 hours before a stressful event or vet visit (dogs)
  • A calming option for dogs and cats, alone or combined with the first
  • A gel applied to the gums for noise fear in dogs

The veterinarian chooses what is appropriate for your pet. Telepets veterinarians do not prescribe controlled substances. Medication is paid to the pharmacy at its price; Telepets adds no markup.

No. You answer the intake on your own schedule, then a veterinarian messages you. The veterinarian may ask for photos or a short video clip of your pet, so it helps to have your pet nearby.

You choose. Pick up at a nearby pharmacy that carries the medication, or use a partner online pharmacy that delivers to your door. You pay the pharmacy directly.

If we cannot treat your pet online, the consultation fee is refunded. The veterinarian will tell you when your pet needs to be seen in person. Telepets is for non-urgent care; an emergency needs an emergency veterinary hospital.
